KIBAKI’S DILEMMA

kibaki.jpgIt can truly be said that Kibaki and his clique of powerful, rich friends never anticipated the events that would unfold in the country as a result of their cumbersome 3rd grade rigging and subsequent swearing in at State House as if they were swearing in a house Prefect at Karagoyo Secondary School. No foreign dignitaries, in the cover of darkness, no independent news media and a Chief Justice ready to initiate a ceremony without the results.

It has become clear to the world that this poorly orchestrated exercise was inevitable, a desperate act by a desperate man jostling to cling to a Presidency taken away by the people.

His ears deaf to the xcries of change and his eyes blind to the democratic revolt, Kibaki inadvertently commited political suicide, and by doing so put his own tribe the Kikuyu at the mercies and wrath of an angry nation.

Kibaki will not survive this.

The Kenyan Military with its brave commanders have long resisted becoming involved in Politics including intervention in tribal politics. And even though the President holds the Government of Kenya portfolio as the Commander in Chief, his sustainment in that Position is at the mercies of the real Commanders on the ground. Thus his resistance to call for  A State of Emergency, among other socioeconomic reasons. Certainly the army itself with its 2 armored brigades, 4 infantry brigades, 1 engineer brigade, 1 armoured reconnaissance battalion, 2 artillery battalions, 3 engineer battalions, 1 independent air cavalry battalion, 5 infantry battalions, 1 parachute battalion, air wing with 35 armoured helicopters is well capable of restoring order. However this would be an admition by Kibaki that he has lost control and risk the Military gaining control.

so his options are, step down and certainly face the humiliating admition that he rigged the elections, two, convene Parliament where he would almost certainly be facing a vote of No Confidence and loose, therefore leading to a fresh election. three, Negotiate with the man he loathes, Raila Odinga. This will require a miracle as Raila has refused to negotiate with Kibaki unless he steps down.

In the meantime, Kenyans die as long standing ethnical rivalries preceeding generations, come to a violent boil.

  1. Thank you for this incisive analysis. Where do you get your information about the Kenyan military? And do you have any information you can disclose about the security forces we are seeing in your pictures?

  2. Why is Kibaki’s lust for power destroying East Africa’s biggest economy like this? Why should many people lose their lives just because of one man’s greed? Why doesn’t he just step down and concentrate on his life, wife and family?NO, this is terrible. Kibaki must go!!!
There is life after presidency.Go and ask Joachim Chissano of Mozambique.

I really feel for those that have lost their lives.May their souls rest in peace.

  3. I thought you had an open mind but it turns out you are just as biased as the Kenyan pundit & Kibaki will survive this & become a better man iut of it,the same can not be said of same ODM members.

    Later you tribalists.

  4. I am a white man from the United States who has been following the situation in Kenya closely. Friends of mine, both black and white work as missionaries in Kenya, and I pray for their safety. From the view of an outsider, with no tribal affiliations one way or another, it seems like this is some of the best analysis I’ve seen.

To the extent that kyuk has a different analysis, it would be good to hear it. We need real dialog.

  5. Why be biased…Both parties accused each other of rigging so???? don’t blame one person. The two leaders should stand to stop this..it just requires each to tell its followers to maintain peace. We here of Raira’s rally…is he really ready to see other people die…in times of disputes there are legal ways to sort out differences. The ODM should have addressed this matter the right way before the results were announced. It sad to see the poor and innocent die like this.

  6. Don’t be biased…Kibaki will survive this…Both parties accused each other of rigging..at least Kibaki is trying to stop violence but the other party is organizing rallies to be declared a people’s president..What will be the results of that??? Two presidents then what,,,there are legal ways of sorting this without using the innocent citizens.

  7. I agree with Aldon.. there needs to be dialogue. I was born and raised in Kenya.. such images have really put me on the edge.

As Kenyans, we have to decide what is at stake here and at what cost!! There needs to be a clear and sober analysis of what is going on by each Kenyan.. the violence is preventing common sense….

Are we or are we not a democracy? On December 27th, we held a General Election. A few days later, a winner is announced. Ok, Kenyans, I DO NOT CARE WHO YOU SUPPORTED OR VOTED FOR, LET US BE SOBER!!! THINK THINK THINK!!! WE ALL HAVE TO LET GO OF OUR EGOS AND THINK. Is there something wrong with how this result came about?

I repeat, I DO NOT CARE IF YOU VOTED FOR RAILA, KIBAKI, MUSYOKA or some jamaa down the street. THERE ARE IRREGULARITIES, period. It is not to say that Kibaki might not have won, but SOMETHING IS VERY WRONG!!! WE CANNOT IGNORE IT AND SWEEP IT UNDER THE CARPET. It is not just Kenyans that see something is wrong… the world is watching and making the same sentiment. WE HAVE TO HAVE AN INQUIRY INTO WHAT HAPPENED! To say people are tribalists, is not enough. Kyuk, give us your opinion..we HAVE TO DIALOGUE.

The ECK Chairman is talking and it does not sound good. HE STATES THAT HE DOES NOT KNOW WHO WON THE ELECTION!! How immoral have Kenyans become? We have to take back our country and our minds.

I am sorry to say this but this needs to be CLEARED UP NOW… for the SAKE OF KENYA AND AFRICA. I did some research and I saw that 2 other African nations that held elections recently – Nigeria and Cameroon – and in both, there were accusations and evidence of rigging. AS A CONTINENT, in order to move forward and break the shackles of oppression and poverty, we have to CORRECT THIS PROBLEM. We have to give the power and voice to the people to deterrmine who their leaders are.

Ghana’s president (AU Chairman) is arriving in NAirobi today and there is talk that Desmond Tutu is also supposed to be arriving. RAILA AND KIBAKI need to sit down. THEY ARE BOTH HARD-HEADED but all the LEADERS HAVE TO MEET. People’s lilves are at stake and Kenya is bursting at the seams.

LET ALL KENYANS AND NON-KENYANS COME TOGETHER TO STOP THIS.

  8. Aldon
I do agree that dialogue is needed urgently but that can only take part when both parties agree to at least attend or be apart of them.
Raila doesn’t want any dialogue before certain conditions are met, when going for dialogue one has to have an open mind & not go in with any preconceived notions.
There is no evidence that Kibaki rigged the elections Raila has been asked to come up with proof but he can’t.True there were irregularities but this affected both sides & the only reason PNU is not making so much kerfuffle about this is because they won.
Raila keeps asking for calm but at the same time making subtle inciting comments.

  9. I appreciate your comments and your passion for Kenya. Many people wish that the legal system was a good option however Kibaki knew there would be an election dispute and appointed 6 new judges to the courts of appeal, just days before the election.

  10. UPDATE
I have just read the NATION newspaper online. The military has been deployed to several parts of the country to help settle things down. Everything must be done to protect the innocent people of Kenya that are suffering and being targetted!!!!

  11. The army has only been deployed to help in humanitarian needs not to engage in the fight
    Kaloki
Would it have been better if he appointed the judges months or years before?
it doesn’t matter it is his prerogative & he just excercised it when he deemed it fit.

  15. This is a travesty and a huge disappointment to all the recent development and positive direction the country has seen in the last 20 years.

Tribalism is deeply rooted in African Countries and the the root cause of all this. I have to admit something stinks about the election results and screams of foul play. Wha we are seeing is pressure coming out from a Nation that was cooking and hoping for a free and fair election.

Blood has been poured and lives lost and am truly saddened by this and pray for peace and healing very soon. As a result LET this be a major learning point going forward and let’s shun devisive politics based on tribal and clan lines. The younger educated Kenyans are fair and see everyone as equal.

To the older generation, please be better role models and if NOT the YOUNGER PEOPLE let’s all stand up and be counted and shake hands and be the bearers of light and hope as we try and hide our embarrasment to the whole world.

Let PEACE prevail and let’s simply get along.

  16. Why are you insighting….. moto umeshawaka, why pour more parafin. Haven’t you already gotten what you want?
I personally do not believe that any 5 Year presidential term is worth a drop of my blood. I don’t think any one Kenya is willing to die for Raila or Kibaki, and if they are – I pity their self worth.
    Je, bado Unajivunia kuwa Mkenya?

  17. KYUK—– I SOMETIMES WONDER WHY PEOPLE ARE NOT RATIONAL ARE YOU KENYAN? I DONT THINK SO BECAUSE IF YOU WERE A KENYAN YOU WOULD NEVER SUGGEST USING THE LEGAL SYSTEM TO SOLVE ANYTHING. IF THE LEGAL SYSTEM IN KENYA WORKED, THEN THE GOLDENBERG SCANDAL,ANGLO LEASING PLUS MANY OTHER SCANDALS WOULD HAVE SEEN SOME PEOPLE IN JAIL. NONE HAVE BEEN SENTENCED SO FAR EVEN FOR THINGS THAT HAPPENED IN THE 80′S E.G. OUKO. IF KENYAS LEGAL SYSTEM WORKED, LUCY KIBAKI WOULD HAVE BEEN CHARGED WITH ASSAULT AT LEAST TWICE FOR SLAPPING PEOPLE. THE LEGAL SYSTEM IN KENYA DOES NOT WORK, LETS NOT PRETEND OTHERWISE

  18. MIMI
I’m Kenyan & proud of it.
The legal system doesn’t always work but it is the lesser of the two evils.
People haven’t been jailed for some of the cases that you have mentioned because the AG hasn’t acted on them.If they got to the courts & were heard I’m sure something would have happened by now.
ODM pentagon members should be grateful that the judicial system is that slow or otherwise some of it’s members would be in Kamiti.

Lets find another way to deal with this issue rather than our people killing each other.

  19. KYUK YOU SURPRISE ME!!! THE LEGAL SYSTEM IS LESSER OF THE TWO EVILS? THATS TRUE BUT THERE IS NO NEED OF USING IT IF IT DOESNT WORK. SAME WAY MANY KENYANS ARE SAYING THERE IS NO NEED TO VOTE IF SOMEONE WILL BULLDOZE HIS WAY IN. KIBAKI IS A 76 YEAR OLD WHO HAS SEEN WHAT UNFAIR ELECTIONS HAVE PRODUCED IN OTHER COUNTRIES. IF HE IS THE TRU WINNER WHY HASNT HE AGREED TO A RECOUNT WHEN THAT WOULD HAVE DECIDED THE TRUTH? OH AM SURE HE WILL NOW AGREE TO ONE SINCE SOME OF THE FORM 16A’S HAVE GONE MISSING FROM KICC. WHEN DID THEY EVER ANNOUNCE ELECTIONS WITHOUT SOME CONSTITUENCIES RESULTS? E.G KAMUKUNJI. WHY WAS KIBAKI HASTILY SWORN IN A MANNER THAT HAS NEVER BEEN DONE BEFORE? I THOUGHT WE AS KENYANS SHOULD LOOK AT THE HARD FACTS AND STOP BASING OUR JUDGEMENTS ON OUR BIAS. DO YOU WANT TO TELL ME ALL THE OBSERVERS FROM THE WORLD ARE ANTI KIKUYU OR LUO? KYUK YOU VERY WELL KNOW THAT THE ATTORNEY GENERAL IS NOT TO BLAME FOR NON PROSECUTION . IF HE WAS SLOW TO ACT AND THE PRESIDENT HAD SUCH CLEAN HANDS, THE PRESIDENT WOULD HAVE DONE SOMETHING ABOUT IT. THE ATTORNEY GENERAL IS UNDER THE PRESIDENT AND AS WE ALL KNOW, CANNOT DO ANYTHING UNLESS DIRECTED TO. WHOM ARE WE KIDDING? THERE IS NO SLOW JUDICIAL SYSTEM, IT SIMPLY DOESNT EXIST WITH CORRUPTION. ALOT OF KIBAKI PEOPLE WERE MENTIONED IN SCANDALS AND YOU KNOW WHAT HAPPENED? THEY VOTED IN PARLIAMENT AND SAID THAT ANY CASES OVER 4 YEARS SHOULD BE ‘FORGOTTEN’. KYUK, I THINK ITS GOOD TO BE RATIONAL NO MATTER WHAT SIDE YOU ARE ON . KENYANS HAVE KNOWN FOR A LONG TIME THAT THEY CANNOT RELY ON THE JUDICIAL SYSTEM. WE HAVE TO STOP BEING IRRATIONAL AND LOOK AT THE INNOCENT LIVES THAT ARE GETTING LOST. BY THE WAY, I AM NEITHER A KYUK NOR A LUO AND AT THIS POINT I AM BASING MY THOUGHT ON WHAT I HAVE READ FROM KENYAN AND INTERNATIONAL MEDIA

  20. My fellow Kyuk,

I do indeed see ur point about using the judicial system, but NOT the current judicial system we have in place. I do not like the fact that Kenyan blood is being spilt for a thief. I would be more proud to be a Kyuk if the results were NOT tampered with nor the ECK compromised by PNU and ODM-K. It is sad indeed that the thirst for power has led to all this blood shed. Do not forget that the illegal president (Kibaki) and the kyuk mafia.. (you know who I’m talking about) had strategised this results from day 1 right from strategically placing Evans Gicheru as the CJ (compromising the legal system) and the key appointments made right before elections to the judiciary. The other strategic placements were within the ECK and only the protest of the mwananchi ensured that Kivuitu was not replaced. The mafia didn’t mind this since they already had key players within and the spineless chairman could be coerced easily like he was. If the chairman can state that he doesn’t know who won, WHY IN THE HELL DID HE ANNOUNCE RESULTS THAT HE HIMSEL IS NOT SURE OF? In as much as everyone blames Kibaki, some of that blame needs to be directed towards the ECK, especially Kivuitu.
The only amicable solution(s) I see are:-
    (1) Kibaki steps down until an independent body verifies the result tallies, then if Kibaki wins again, everyone should hold their peace.
    (2) Since the military stays away from politics, let the military take over and fresh Presidential Elections be held within a year.

It is truly sad to be a Kyuk right now as the stereo type of Kyuks being thieves has been confirmed and is no longer a stereo type.

  21. THOSE PEOPLE WHO HAVE WATCHED OUR COUNTRY GO INTO RUIN BECAUSE OF THEIR THRIST FOR POWER ARE NOT REAL LEADERS AND THEY EYED THE TOP SEAT AND NOT THE GROWTH OF OUR NATION.

I HAVE ALWAYS WONDERED WHY DO SOME “LEADERS” WHO SEEM TO HAVE A LOT OF PASSION &ENERGY ON THE CAMPAIGN TRAIL DON’T USE THE SAME IN MATTERS THAT WOULD NOT BENEFIT THEM DIRECTLY? EVEN NOW AS THEIR SUPPORTERS BURN DOWN THE COUNTRY THEY HAVE REFUSED TO GO OUT AND APPEAL TO THEM WITH THE PASSION THEY ASKED FOR THEIR VOTES.
THE LEGAL SYSTEM MAY BE FLAWED BUT LAWS IN KENYA ARE LEGISLATED BY THE LEGISLATURE.
OUR PROBLEM AS A NATION L BELIEVE IS OUR MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT THEY THINK THEIR DUTY IN PARLIAMENT IS TO FIGHT OTHER ARMS OF GOVERNMENT. THEY SHOULD FOCUS ON LEGISLATING BILLS THAT CAN HELP US AS A NATION TO UTILISE OUR RESOURCES OPTIMALLY AND CURB OUR MENACES IN A JUST AND CIVIL MANNER. THERE WE CAN WATCH ANYONE TRYING TO STOP A GOOD BILL AND WE CAN VOTE THEM OUT!

WE SHALL PREVAIL AS A NATION ,COME OUT OF THIS BIGGER AND BETTER SO KEEP HOPE ALIVE AND DON’T BE FOOLED BY ANYONE WE HAVE NOT JUST LANDED IN KENYA WE BEEN AROUND AND KNOW THE PERFORMANCE OF MOST OF THE NEWLY ELECTED LEADERS!

  22. It has been great having the President name his cabinet, as this means that he is ready to continue working, even with all the noise intending to bend his back. Congratulations sir, you have shown that you cannot be cowed by other people who think they can yell and whine till you step down!

  23. I am surprised that someone with such insight as yourself J.Karoki can publish such biased information on your own country!! Gone are the days of our forefathers being tribal where certain tribes could never mix etc, Kenya is in a new era and is an international economy where DEMOCRACY REIGNS NOT DICTATORSHIP!!!!!!!!!! The kenyan economy has been brought back from ruins, all within 5yrs. Can you seriously admit that Kibaki has wrecked Kenyan economy or iinfact done some good for the country? Please it is up to us as KENYANS to recognize this is our country, we all live here and what we should now be pushing for is peace NOT fuelling the riots and chaos and bitterness of WHO VOTED FOR WHO AND WHO IS IN POWER, WHICH TRIBE DOES HE BELONG TO…….. please do you think for one minute if you allow this to go it will ever end?? TRY forcing issues like Kibaki stepping down – next president in will obviously start another whole different tribal issue and it’s just going to spiral into one ugly vicious cycle of tribal warfare.
Joseph Karoki- you should not be sooooooo BIASED, dialogue is necessary and if yoiur guy raila is such a “big man” why is he being so childish and refusing dialogue. DEMOCARCY ONCE AGAIN!!!!! Gone are the days where we were under one president for 20 odd years where most national companies got shut down – LEST WE FORGET WHERE KIBAKI HAS BROUGHT KENYA UP TO. I am not in favour of either but let us not be too quick to look at the bad instead of the GOOD FOR OUR OWN MOTHERLAND. Kenya is ours and NO ONE CAN TAKE THAT FROM US…… ITS UP TO US AS A NATION TO SURVIVE – AS ONE – not mulitudes of segregated tribes. WAKE UP!!!!!!!! PS: Everyone is power hungry and i think that is where all this stems from. God Bless KENYA AND ALL KENYANS, we are a young nation but we are ONE. please dont ruin our beloved country

  24. Nayah, you sound like a child who has not grown up yet. How is someone ruining the country by making an honest observation of the facts. Furthermore, have you considered that , Raila is being asked to dialogue while Ugandan mercenanries are being deployed to exterminate innocent kenyan citizens in Kenya. Dont for one minute think that there are no kikuyus being slaughtered in Nyanza by these Ugandan mercenaries, who have been brought in by Kibabki. At least Raila whom you are vilifying hasnt called in any soldiers from another country to kill innocent kenayns. The issue is not with Raila, the issue is with Kibaki. He is the one in power, not Raila. Stop blaming the victim and assign the criticism to the person who genuinely deserves the criticism. Kenya does not belong to the kikuyus, it belongs to everyone. It wouldnt be a problem if a kikuyu was in power and he looked out for every kenyans interest, but when you have a kikuyu and all he does is look out for the kikuyus something is wrong. Kibaki cannot blame anyone but himeself, He cant even blame Moi, because Moi only did what Kenyatta taught him. Which was look out for only ” ME ” and my ” TRIBE”. There you have it, that is what is making every one want to kill all the kikuyus, you have stolen everything in the country , that you lay your hands on. There is no level playing feild in Kenya for anyone else if they are not kikuyu, and this has to stop.
If you Kikuyus dont recognize this, one day there will come a day when all the tribes are going to gang up and wipe you out. Its sad, but thats the truth.

  25. Oscar or whatever u call yourself at least you think am a child who can spell,,,, ok u bloody grown grown up cannot even spell the name of ur own president or country its KiIBAKI & KENYA resp. THANK YOU!!! You’ve got no idea what issue i was trying to raise, now suddenly am a kikuyu….. there you go again being all tribal. Hang on a minute who’s the child now?? Am not kikuyu, but obviously you are out to see them massacred!!!!!!!!! You think you are helping Kenya but lamenting these sort of things. What evidence have you got that Kenyatta taught Moi how to be tribal…..?? Pardon me if am mistaken but I HAVE NOTHING BUT RESPECT FOR THE FOUNDING FATHER OF THE NATION – Kenyatte and Former President Moi and the same applies for the current president whether it would have been raila or whoever. Thats where you are wrong smarty pants!!!!!!!!!! You are fuelling more hatred and anger and you are avoiding reality – like it or lump it Kibaki is the president, The common Mwananchi is after peace not more blood shed so i suggest oscar take a hike or jump the bridge!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Kenyans are peaceful people its those uncouth minority like yourself who go rampaging, raping helpless and starting riots and violence on innocent civilians- what does that solve????? Oh yeah maybe they are all kikuyus getting massacred and ganged up on like you said………… with this sort of logic oscar you expect to get anywhere????
Step aside buddy there are more serious issues at hand here… hey just a reminder PEACE FOR ALL KENYANS, NOT KIKUYUS, LUOS OR WHICHEVER OTHER TRIBE ALL KENYANS!!!!!!!!!!!! You can keep bl;aming one tribe till the sun comes up- that solves nothing, move on and deal with matters at hand!!!!!!!!!!! one kenya one people. You are a sad mistaken person who is bitter about kikuyus being in power and that is not the case in hand it stopping the bloodshed amongst our fellow kenyans!!!!

  26. fellow Kenyans and friends it is important to ask this question because it seems we are looking at one side of the coin.I appreciate the work you are doing Joseph Karoki, but I would kindly ask, where were you when the Nairobi Stocks was booming, the economy doing well, the upgrading of the infrastructure and the healthcare in Kenya? Why haven’t you had space for the development record set over the 5 year period?I mean to ask where were you?
The other thing is that it occurs to me that you are neither Luo nor Kikuyu. But this is not enough to rule out unbiased coverage because as I read each and every of your post, all that I get is you have a strong political inclination which is undeniable.
My brother, let me advice you…..what Kenya needs now is not what you are doing!!Am right to say you have failed as a Kenyan patriot and its a big shame potraying such things openly to the international community.Kenya is my as well as your motherland. And I dont care wherever you are on earth, the truth is that you were born Kenyan and you cannot reverse that.
Kenya needs healing now.Can you step in as you do your work and sell the image Kenya deserves. Can you be a patriot that you are.Can you help preach the gospel of peace.
Lastly,Kibaki remains Kenya’s President. He holds the sword of authority. Now,Jose do not revile the king in your mind. There is no authority that exists except that which God has established.Respect the king and he’ll have mercy on you but if you do not heed the call to honour and respect authority….you will be subject to judgement ….not from a man like you but from God!!!
    Peace to Kenya,Amani Kenya!!!

  27. Folks, I rarely respond to critism and I get quite my share of it since setting up this blog but Ammo’s innacurate comments above have left me no choice but to respond. Ammo some of the information you gave above is so misleading if not completely false, and though I understand where you are coming from, your views are at best misguided.

Ammo, you claim that I am neither Luo or Kikuyu, who gave you that information? Let me say with great pride that I am a kikuyu. My loving father’s family is from Nakuru and my mother’s family is from Kiambu. Karoki is a kikuyu name not a kamba name as you probably thought. Kaloki is a kamba name. so refrain from making assumptions about my tribe.

Secondly you ask, why I have not had space for the development gains in the lsat 5 years and you furthermore continue to ask where I have been when the stock exchange was booming. I will be happy to answer your question Ammo. This is not a general blog about Kenya. This blog as stated above is to highlight the receedance of democracy that occured as soon as Member of Parliament for Othaya Mwai Kibaki, stole the vote and if effect nullified the democratic choice of Kenyans! This blog is NOT a family blog. its definately not a financial blog, this blog shows in pictures the plight of innocent Kenyans and those that have been unfairly been victimised by civilian gangs or gangs in uniform aka the Police. And before you accuse me of being anti-police. I served proudly in the State of New Mexico as an agent in the NM Gang and Terrorism task force. I have recieved extensive law enforcement training and know the rules that govern use of force. I am not a journalist my friend and do not claim to be one. I am happy doing what I do as a sales executive for a fortune 500 company. I am just an ordinary Kenyan and a proud Kenyan investor making sure that Kibaki’s dirt is not swept under the carpet.

Ammo, how can Kenya heal when the bacteria is still alive? You reference the bible in justifying Kibaki’s leadership.I have never known the God I serve to steal in order to have his way. You mock God, by claiming that Kibaki is God’s choice! by theft? get serious.

This right here my friends is why Kenyans keep electing dumb, thieving, career politicians to power and then complain when nothing is changing. We choose leaders based on tribe. I am a Kikuyu but Kibaki has brought humiliation and suffering to my tribe! He is NOT my President, and the suffering and disgrace he has brought my people shall not be forgotten! I would have done the same thing if Odinga had stolen the vote. Nobody in Kenya is above the law. My patriotism to Kenya boils in my blood. My love for my dear country, unmeasurable. So next time think before you type!

  28. The old man Kibaki will not survive this. I recall one swahili saying,’amani haipatikani ila kwa ncha ya upanga’ Well! justice has started taking shape. With the swearing of the House speaker as well as his deputy, Kibaki now realises the battle has just began- a battle that will not end any time soon. I recall one comment by political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi that Kibaki’s government will ultyimately disintergrate.

  29. I have read some of the comments here and it truly reflects how naive and irrelevent some of us can be.Some are even involving God to justify the theivery and thuggerry thatKibaki has subjected us to!
I think we should look at the real picture here.Kibaki presidency will not stand, people did not elect him, save for two regions.
Now he is taking us back to the dark days of police state and extra judicial killings!
WHAT KENYA NEED IS JUSTICE AND NOT PEACE AS SOME OF US THINK.THERE WILL NEVER BE PEACE UNLESS JUSTICE IS OUR SHIELD AND DEFENDER!

  30. KYUK, YOU ARE DEFINETLY A KYUK, CANT BLAME YOU FOR THAT.

YOU SAY THERE IS NO EVIDENCE? THEN WHAT DO WE CALL WHAT THE ECK CHAIRMAN CONFFESSED? AND THE ECK OFFICIAL ?

DONT TALK IF YOU DONT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE SAYING?

THE FACT REMAINS KIBAKI DOESN’T HOW TO RIG LIKE MOI DID.

EVEN THE WORLD KNOWS ABOUT IT
ITS NOT ABOUT TRIBE BUT DEMOCRACY AND TRUTH TO THE PEOPLE.

  31. Hey Sir.Joseph don’t be so emotional about my comment.I only wanted to enlighten you and perhaps get your eyes opened as to the reality of the matter.
Let me dwell on the fact that regardless of the outcome of the elections every party stole I mean rigged. It doesn’t matter howerver it was done but the truth of the matter is there was rigging.
I can comfortable say Kibaki was God’s choice…the reason for this I tell you once again is that authority and all that comes from God.I can quote so many verses to back my statement but all the same Sir Joseph yu surely know that light has no fellowship with darkness. One of the major disqualification of Raila was the fact that he consulted witchdoctors. This was an abomination and the greatest mockery to the church of God.Before there ever was a King there was a priest.I hope you see what I mean.
By doing so and even going to the extent of importing from Tanzania….can you say this s not riggin…I mean using jujus to influence the minds of people…that is outright violation of democracy.
God is a just God.If you have time go thru Psalms 18 you will understand why even though PNU rigged God established Kibaki in authority. To those who are fraud…God will show himself fraud.
All we can do now is just pray for our motherland and do what we are supposed to do.Any call for “peaceful demonstration” is senseless as looters are using his opportunity to do what they do best.Another thing….why leave your work go and protest and you know very well your children need bread on the table??Does it make sense at all??You go and tear gas is thrown at you and the person who called for it is driven away leaving you to suffer for him….Sir Joseph…I hope it makes sense to you and I pray my fellow Kenyans especially in Kibera could understand this!!!
Lastly anyone waiting for Kibaki’s Govt to disintegrate…you better find something better to do because it aint moving an inch!!!
Fellow Kenyan brothers lets keep on the spirit of unity for Kenya is headed far…a great future…Kenya is in the labour pains birthing something that will shock the whole wide world.
    Lets continue praying for Kenya!!!

  32. Ammo, poor you! Yours is the kind of arrogance and total luck of comprehension of the issues at hand here that we are talking about. You have proceeded to make a total dunce of yourself.

  33. AMMO, STOP THIS NONSENSE YOU ARE CLAIMING AND STOP MISUSING GODS NAME TO DEFEND THIEVES.

KIBAKI IS A THIEF WHO DOESN’T KNOW THE TACTICS OF RIGGING LIKE MOI DID.

  34. Taking a casual look at the comments on this page I well understand why we are where we are as a Nation today. Some of us deserve much less than being Kenyan citizens. I want to take my hat off to you Joseph Karoki, I have never met you and indeed never might, but I see a TRUE PATRIOT and person who is TRULY Kenyan at heart. Soldier on.

Kibaki has casually, willingly and greedily brought our hitherto internationally respected nascent nation onto it’s democratic deathbed. With that goes all pretense of human rights, free press and respect of laws. The fact of the matter is that whoever and wherever you are in Kenya, Kibaki is playing Russian roulette with your life, your present and your future. Ask any internally displaced person – Kikuyu or Not and they will confirm this.

The desire to steal; enrich oneself and hold on to power which is given by the populace is the greatest bane of African leaders. Nobody expected this of Kibaki having himself come into power through the ballot in what all observers agreed was a free and fair poll. The LEAST he would have done would have been to ensure justice and fairness was upheld. These were tenets that allowed him to be president – for God’s sake!!! Any elemets of trust or gentleman behavior as peddled in various adds before the election have been found to be vacuous in this post-election period. He has made my country just ”’another regular African country”, an also ran…

Having witnessed in my local upcountry polling station the initial rig that gave him the 25% in all provinces. (AP’s marking ballot papers outside my local primary school in a car, where he subsequently came second, 2 votes behind Raila despite majority of people voting for Raila) I was shocked by the brazen steal of votes so openly!!! My farm workman with the radio could tell me it was a rigged election!!! That has directly lead to this sordid state of affairs we find ourselves in. That is also why he will resist ANY attempts at a rerun with an independent body since these earlier rigged votes will not be available to him and the loss will be all the more obvious. It is also said Kibs had wanted to concede defeat and called the media houses but his hardliners would not let him do it!!! They are behind all this but the buck stops at Kibs door.

It is however suprising that among my Kikuyu friends in the Kenyan diaspora, international diaspora and in Nairobi they are all convinced that Kibaki wond FAIR AND SQUARE. These are highly educated folk, including economists, Surgeons, Paediatricians, Dentists, and businessmen!!!! They have chosen to bury their heads in the sand and allow the rape of our young country and it’s democracy proceed, so long as it is by ‘one of their own’. Just the other day they would froth at the mouth when Moi did just a 1/4 of what Kibaki has done. These are the sellouts, the tribalised fellows who would sell their country down the road of civil war for……nothing! Kibs does not know them, does not care about them and would gladly put them in harms way to achieve his ends, but they do not see that!!! I shudder because they are the opinion leaders in their areas. If this is what they think, I cant blame the herdsmen in their areas for their thoughts…. This is why I RESPECT a fellow like Karoki because the truth will always set one free. Truth and Justice make for a sound peace anyday!!!

Kibaki has taken the name of the Lord in vain during his swearing in. He plays with another power that is far greater than him. In Rome they did not say vox populi, vox dei for no good reason. You cannot wily nilly lord it over me if I do not want you to. This is the essence of democracy and that choice MUST be respected. Living in harmony requires respect of rules of engagement without which chaos ensues. God is not mocked, for what a man sows the same shall he reap (after it has grown up). What we are seeing are but the first fruits of that reaping, the real fruit, the whirlwind after this casual sowing to the wind is yet to come.

The ubiquitous flow of violence meeted out to Kenyans by THEIR OWN SECURITY FORCES AND MERCENARY UGANDANS will result in a greater demystification of violence and the gun. The population will be ready for them next time especially since they have crossed a threshold and used deadly force. I predict we shall soon see private well armed militia that will be held in reserve to ensure whoever gets or feels disenfranchised at the ballot box will be able to enforce a dialogue. The state will no longer have the hitherto widespread monopoly of violence it misuses on it’s citizenry. Welcome to a new Kenya. Nobody should blame the citizens for merely doing what comes natural to ANY person.

It is evident Kibs and henchmen cannot be doing all this unless they are sure the army is on their side. The army is not 100% on their side and they know it. Talk has seeped through of unhappiness in the ranks. An unstable army is a recipe for disaster. Many army men have lost brothers, sisters, fathers, nephews and nieces to the thoughtless actions of Kibaki and his men. Life is sacred, and once that sanctity is breached we are asking for trouble. This is a tiger he cannot ride, even if Raila was not to be in the picture.

Kibaki is NOT going to be remebered for a 5% growth in the economy. He will clearly be remembered as the man who took Kenya back into the dark ages, alienated his Kikuyu tribe from other Kenyans and invited foreign troops to shoot down Kenyans n their own country. He will be remembered as the man who tore Kenya’s social and ethnic fabric, the man who stole votes and administered a near killer blow to democracy in Kenya. The NSE etc is just piss in the wind. Kenya may well go into civil war, but IT WILL RISE STRONGER AND BETTER IN SO MANY WAYS THAN IT HAS BEEN BEFORE, and the name of every person killed whilst protesting this rape of democracy will be remembered.

  35. [...] children, during some of the worst violence ever to hit the once-stable nation. January 2, 2008 KIBAKI’S DILEMMA It can truly be said that Kibaki and his clique of powerful, rich friends never anticipated the [...]

  36. Fellow Kenyans and friends….prayer is the answer to everything and tell you what….this is the only KEY.
We can argue here and even get to points where we lash on one another with words undeserved. We all need each other.Do not rule out the fact that I might need you tomorrow or vice versa.Lets embrace a spirit of reconciliation and peace so that our land may heal.

Whatever you do,wherever you are, pray for our beloved motherland Kenya.

    God bless Kenya,Peace to Kenya.

  37. we need peace in kenya. people are dying and suffering, and yet they were not involved in the rigging. “no raila no peace” is basically not a bad statement, but mubaki is the one who should not get peace, whilst kyuks and other people who were attacked and houses burnt shud just be left alone.
If you attack someone for saying his opinion, even if its supporting kibaki, then u are not better than him. IF YOU WANT KIBAKI TO GO, march towards state house and DO NOT EVADE TEAR GAS; RIOT POLICE & THEIR BULLETS, but dont fight back either. if people JUST KEEP ON WALKING police and kibaki has only two options: give up or massacre everyone in that march.
Gandhi has shown how this works and that it works, so it will work here too.
Even if mubaki gives another shoot to kill order, i doubt police would shoot when they see how decided the crowd is.

  38. I guess that Makerere and London School of Economics education could not even begin to match Moi’s School of hard knocks education. Guess who comes out looking like a saint now. Although Moi was brutal and took Kenya to its knees, not with so much inpunity. I clearly state that owing to the fact that it took 24 years, Kibaki has just had 5 years, good for him if he thinks he can impose his will on the 21st Century Kenya.

  39. Now is Raila really a christian? , he has read the luos into mass demonstrations
[read mass destruction] hooliganism and now he is not able to control them anymore- moreso, he seems
not to mind, all what he wants is presidency, we kenyans are tired of him and
even with his counterpart Nyongo who is corning out Raila into becoming aloof.Karoki
please note that we want a GOOD president and not just Raila, he is so aligned to the west
etc. he seems not to know that outsiders have ruined other countries and they cannot
be our saviours he should return all the financial support that ODM got from these countries

  40. How much worse could the West do as you postulate? Steal elections, no, I guess be the ‘duly elected president” of 2 of 8 provinces, no, let’s try again, slap Kenyans around like a lunatic wife…that won’t be so bad either. How about, dress the police force as armed militia…its coming home to roost…no (Naivasha and Nakuru) and the West will tell our woman not to wear pants, but only skirts and dresses. I guess as you also postulate, the west will perfect the art of thievery, better than Kibaki has. Some people speak, not from the hole on their face, but rather, need I say.
